Frequently Asked Questions
What is self-publishing?
What are the various publishing models?
We offer a range of self-publishing models that include:
1. Shared cost model- The author pays for printing and binding, and the publisher takes care of editing, distributing and marketing the book.
2. All-in model – The author pays for all the costs of publishing the book.
3. On-demand model – Authors list their books online without a minimum number guarantee and can order one or more copies.
How is self-publishing better than traditional publishing?
1. Speed: Self-publishing is faster and can help bring a book to market in days or weeks. In traditional publishing, it can take up to 6 months or more to publish a book.
2. Publishing possibility: There are no rejections in self-publishing. However, in traditional publishing, the publisher evaluates and accepts or rejects the manuscript.
3. Sales channels: You can publish your book online across any global channel. In traditional publishing, availability is limited to a few markets or bookshops.
4. Copyright: In self-publishing, the author retains the book’s copyright. Traditional publishers usually keep the copyright of the book they publish.
5. Print life: Traditional publishing houses keep a book in print for four years or according to the book’s popularity. The self-publishing model is on-demand, so you can keep the book available forever.
6. Royalty: Publishers rarely share royalty information with writers and work on a model that includes a one-time fee and a possible royalty-sharing model if the book works out. In self-publishing, everything is clear at the outset so there are no surprises.
7. Investment: In self-publishing, the author does not have to purchase any copies of the manuscript to cover printing or publishing costs. However, in traditional publishing, the author purchases up to a thousand copies to meet printing costs.
